Stockton Heath Primary saved

From the archive, first published Tuesday 21st Mar 2006.

VICTORIOUS residents celebrated last night as Stockton Heath Primary School was saved.

The Town Hall was filled with cheers as plans to demolish the Edwardian building were sensationally refused.

Councillors voted 7-1 against bulldozing the Edgerton Street school and replacing it with a new £3.4m building.

The packed out meeting showed the level of public opposition, with 13 people speaking against the application.
